To download a file to your computer, click on the down-arrow icon.
Your WWW browser should offer you a default file name,
which should
be compatible with the soaring software, while allowing you the option of
changing it. However, each method of downloading files appears to be
different, so be careful to make sure that the file name is
correct on your computer.
Make sure that you save the file in the directory where your soaring software expects the file to be,
or move it there after saving the file on your computer,
To view a file in your browser, click on the eye-ball icon. This option is not available for formats that cannot be viewed, such as the Garmin GPX format.
A format may not be available for a particular site, for example if the site has more points than the format supports, in which case an X-ed out down-arrow icon is displayed
Note that for the IGC and Tom Serkowski's Servers, which are not secure (that is they use http not https), for some browsers you may need to confirm that you want to download the file.
Note that when data are updated I try to change the filename of the downloadable files to include the year and revision (if appropriate), so that it should be readily obvious if you have the current version between, e.g., hobbs0b.dat versus hobbs98.dat.
