BGA LIST OF WAYPOINTS AND BGA CLUB SITES

The BGA has prepared this table in good faith but takes no responsibility for the accuracy or usage of this data, for instance in airborne navigation systems.

Pilots are advised to check any data used, in particular for proximity to other air activities or areas with airspace restrictions, BGA Club sites and other points with airspace considerations.
Lat/Longs are to the WGS84 Datum and are produced from OS Maps via www.streetmap.co.uk or Google Earth.
The altitudes for club sites and airfields are taken from the 1:500,000 CAA air map, other altitudes are from contours and spot heights and other resources, or more recently from www.gpsvisualizer.com/elevation

Waypoint names & Short Codes

These are unique to each point. For positive identification, the Short Code should be used because it is unique, whereas some full names could be used in other ways.

Findability letters A – D, G – airspace designation and use of Hash # and ! Symbols

Category A points are marked on the 1:500,000 air map and should be easy to find visually, Cat D points may need local knowledge or a more detailed map
Category G points are GNSS point based on Lat/Long and do not have an associated geographic feature. Not suitable for visual identification
A single hash (#) is a warning about proximity to controlled or other airspace and the WP should be used with care, particularly in Competitions and other Organised Task Groups.
Points with a double hash (##) should only be approached or over-flown if the organisation responsible for the airspace concerned has positively agreed that the point may be used for the particular flight.
Points with an exclamation mark (!) are near sensitive airspace and should not be used in Competitions or for Organised Task Groups of gliders.
