      The airspace below was derived from the Designated Airspace Handbook on the NAV CANADA's website..

      Special features for soaring:

      • Guelph Corridor is included
      • Class F is divided – Danger and Restricted is flagged in SUA files.   In files, Advisory is F, Danger is D and Restricted is R.
      • Class E Control Zones are left intact in No Low E {version}s
      • Livingstone Block/Cowley airspace has additional block starting at FL280 for a flight computer to produce a warning when close to top
      • Airways around Invermere and Cowley have bases raised to MEA

      All airspace:
      These files include most airspace in the handbook including low level E airspace associated with Airways, Transition Areas, Control Area Extensions, Terminal Control Areas and others.

      • CanAirspace311all.cub – CUB file – for SeeYou/Naviter and some LXNAV/LXNavigation products
      • CanAirspace311all.sua – SUA file – can be used with various programs
      • CanAirspace311all.txt – TXT OpenAir file – can be used with various programs including XCSoar and TopHat (Best in XCSoar for differentiating Class F)

      RECOMMENDED FOR MOST PILOTS – No low E:
      These files have most low E airspace removed but leave Class E Control Zones and Transponder Mandatory airspace.

      No low E and No Transponder:
      These files remove most low E airspace and Transponder airspace but leave Class E Control Zones intact.

      No low E, No Transponder and No High:
      These files remove most low E airspace, Transponder and High airspace but leave Class E Control Zones intact.   It is recommended you use the "clip" feature in your software and use one of the previous airspaces so you still have warnings if you unexpectedly get close to airspace at 12,500 ft and above.   If you can not do that, use these files.

      Canada/US Border:

      • CanUSborder.cub – CUB file – for SeeYou/Naviter and some LXNAV/LXNavigation products
      • CanUSborder.sua – SUA file – can be used with various programs
      • CanUSborder.txt – TXT OpenAir file – can be used with various programs including XCSoar and TopHat

    1. Raw file as read from the Canadian Airspace Handbook

    2. All controlled airspace above 12500 ft converted to Class B. ( This is a larger file but more accurately represents the airspace. )

    3. All Class E and airspace above 18000 feet removed and all controlled airspace above 12500 feet is converted to Class B. ( This reduces the file size and declutters a vario display. )

    4. Same as #3 above but with all CYAs removed. ( This reduces the file size and vario clutter even more. )

    5. All Class E and airspace above 12500 ft removed. ( This makes the file much smaller and is a good choice if you know that you will never be above 12500 ft. )

    6. Same as #5 above but with all CYAs removed. ( This is the smallest file and gives the least cluttered vario display. )
