Compilation of Namibian Airspace Documentation Contents: --------- - Airspace definition and Bitterwasser landing chart - How to talk to Namibian ATC - Info for Pilots in Bitterwasser - SeeYou format (.cup) compilation of updated waypoints, airfields and landable areas - OpenAir format (.txt) airspace definition file - Zander format (.AZ) airspace definition file The Zander converter cannot convert the OpenAir definitions correctly. The .AZ is a hand corrected (and tested) Zander version of the OpenAir definition. If you use other gliding software (StrePla, XCSoar, WinPilot, ...), please get the converted data from one of John Leibacher's Turnpoint Exchange mirror sites: http://soaringweb.org/TP http://soaring.xinqu.net/TP http://soaring.gahsys.com/TP A heart-felt thank you goes to John who maintains his database and makes the sites work without any payment or bribe - not even an occasional "Thank You"-bottle! Changes since release 2009/2010 of 29.10.2009: ---------------------------------------------- To prevent crossing into botswanan airspace, we have moved all waypoints on the border fence 1' into Namibia. Buitepos N has been removed - it has been superseeded by Sandfontein. The coordinates of Mamuno airfield (BT) are now correct. Changes since season 2008/2009: ------------------------------- The "balcony" to the south of the TMA is gone - no more 4'500m restrictions between Rehoboth Station and Louwater. The gliding area has been straightened - just straight lines as borders. The TMA thus has been cut a bit. So, the only airspace inside the Gliding Area is Keetmanshoop - we will certainly be able to cope with that. This set of documents is maintained by Peter Hochstrasser (peter (dot) hochstrasser (at) gmx (dot) net). I'm always interested in feedback. Have a safe gliding season P.
